General Information about Oral Emergencies

Posted .

Keep your teeth safe from oral accidents and injuries by preparing for them. Accidents occur randomly, so make sure you are prepared for any oral emergencies that may come your way. Implementing safe and effective hazard prevention plans may save your smile should an oral emergency ever arise.

If you have suffered blunt trauma and have lost teeth, it may still be possible to once again connect the teeth back into their natural positions. To do so, immediately place the teeth in tooth-saving solutions such as milk or tooth-saving products such as Save-A-Tooth. If done correctly and in time, it may be possible for your dentist to reinsert the tooth back into your mouth, provided the space where the tooth was is still intact.

If there is an item stuck in your mouth between your teeth, do not panic and try to yank it out. Furthermore, do not try to pry it loose with a blunt object or dig around it with a sharp object. Instead, try using an interdental cleaner such as threaded dental floss or a water flosser to gently remove the item. If you must pull or wiggle it, do so delicately.
